And if I wasn't working just how would I have paid rent, a car note, had insurance for my kids, bought school clothes, bought groceries, or taught my children that you are responsible for taking care of yourself? I didn't have extra money to go party, buy frivolous things, sometimes not buy name brand clothes, shoes and such for the kids. My kids packed a lunch and if not they got a lunch ticket. It's all how you look at it. I don't think that lettin someone else take care of you just cause it's "too hard" to do it your self is teaching your children well.

Both my sons are responsible adults cause I expected more from me and them as children. We ALL towed the line and cut corners. We managed to take vacations (in DC at family) every year. Our vaction was our family for a very long time.............Overall it was a nice life - I passed on the same lessons my parents taught me.

Oh hell I forgot to add AOO.............. I have a 30 yo cop son married to a beautiful loving cop wife and a beautiful grandson, the other son 24yo is workin, in a great relationship with a great woman, no kids, doin school as he can afford it. They didn't bring women to my home, they didn't have kids just cause they can, and they are respectful of all women - specially MOM, they didnt'date women with kids. They never got into serious trouble, they are honest hard working men with impecabble taste - they aren't mesmirized by a pretty face. They vaule ambition in women. I don't think I did so bad.......Like became much easier when I got remarried without a doubt - but had I been sittin home on welfare I never would have met the man I did.

Wasn't saying you weren't a good mom. Bet it's hard having your son and daughter in law both be police officers....much worry!

Yep, me, too. Both of them are respectable adults. Wish they were closer, though. Even being farther away - it doesn't take much time at all to fly out to visit. Just takes more planning!

Oh I didn't think you were calling me a bad mom cause I didn't take the stay at home approach. I did stay home with oldest for first year. I didn't with the youngest cause the marriage was such I knew I better have a job. I don't worry ALL the time - it's a way fo life for us. Both of them promised both parents that they would ALWAYS wear thier vest. They keep thier word - even if workin side jobs. Son didn't have it on one evenin and my DIL called me. They are funny how they rat each other out!! I only worry on swat calls but he has gotten to the point where he doesn't tell me he's goin out - my DIL does............. They are happy doin what they do - I couldn't ask for more............ Life is good!
