I have heard that there may be a religious motivation to this. I didn't think much of it at first but I have heard it from more than one person who have no connection with each other. The story I've heard is the AD has a friend who shares his religious preference that he wants to see with the job. Anyone else hearing this?

What is that all about? Why the conspiracy talk? There is no Religious motivation to this.

The simple fact is both men are good men in their own rights. Coach Burke has done some very good things, likewise the AD has done some very good things. This posting has become nothing more than an avenue for people that know nothing to spew stupid stuff that makes no sense and drag the reputations of two men who both have done what they feel to be the right thing through the mud.

I have to say the most disturbing trend here is that it is ok to do something wrong. Notice I didn't say anyone had done something wrong but there are a number of posts here that advocate breaking the rules for wins! Boy what does that say about Dodge City and the people here.

The simple fact of the matter is nobody in the KNOW has posted anything here, and thank goodness for that.

How embarrassing would it be for best that dodge has to offer is something like Randy Driellings foul ramblings that were posted as a link earlier?

Whoa! Calm down. If it is not true, it is just a crazy internet rumor and no one is hurt. I understand there is a school board meeting tonight. I will be anxious to read the paper in the morning.

It's in the paper this morning that Burke resigned. There is an KSSHAA investigation going on. The allegation is that he was teaching football in PE class. In the article Burke claimed that he was not aware that it was a violation. That there is nothing in the rule book against teaching football in PE class.

Not in the article, but I uderstand that there will be a committee that looks for the new coach. The AD thought that would be his sole responsibility, but was told there would be a committee.

Very interesting. Forced to resign, I'm assuming... Well that sure was quick and to the point I guess, so where do we go from here? Seems like it might be difficult to bring in an established coach, seeing that we go through football coaches so frequently. I'm hoping they look at a local guy, sure would be nice to have someone that knows the tradition and the ins and outs of coaching in Dodge.

Every program has a tradition. What is so special about Demon football tradition as opposed to any other school in the area? What advantage would knowing a tradition even help? A coach is just that. Either they know their stuff or they don't and tradition plays no part of it.

It was a nice way of saying the politics and BS you have to put up with when being a coach in Dodge City.

Sorry but Dodge isn't any different as far as politics and BS from any other school. If so, then explain how?

No dis-respect but it looks like everyone in Dodge is living in days gone by (many days).

No doubt Dick Masters was a great coach, but when was the last time he coached? When was the last state championship Dodge won? Trying to figure out this tradition thing that always seems to come up.


By the way, I have been in Dodge Almost 30 years and my son was a Demon under the worst coach in DCHS history (Schartz)
